WWE News: Update on Xavier Woods Injury Status, Torn Achilles Tendon Requires Surgery

There’s bad news for Xavier Woods foot injury because he’s going to be out of action for a long time. Earlier in the week, we posted about Woods suffering a foot injury in Australia and there was a fear that it may be serious. Today, there’s more news about Xavier’s status.

Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio show gave an update on Xavier Woods injury, and the news isn’t good. According to Meltzer, Woods is expected to be out for nine months or more with a torn Achilles Tendon.

“He’s having surgery for a torn Achilles. It’s bad. He’s gonna be out for nine months probably more. A torn Achilles is about a year recovery for an athlete, but I think a wrestler can come back a little quicker because wrestling is not about that like you know the real speed you need on the football field of the basketball court. So I think with a wrestler he could come back a little quicker. It’s not a common injury to wrestlers at all.”

There has been no official statement from WWE as far as how long Woods will be out of action.

The injury is similar to what Edge suffered in 2009 and that put him out of action for about 7 months, so perhaps Woods can come back in a similar time frame.

If you follow the NBA closesly then you probably know that former MVP and NBA Champion Kevin Durant suffered a torn Achilles in the NBA Finals in June. He is not expected to play in the NBA this season because of how serious of an injury it is.

Matt’s Musings: Terrible news for Woods and the entire New Day. Hopefully, Woods can enjoy some much-deserved rest and relaxation while away and come back as good as ever.

Woods also has the very successful UpUpDownDown Youtube Channel with over 2 million subscribers, so he’ll have plenty of time to spend playing those games.
