It was announced on Tuesday prior to Smackdown that WWE will bring back the Mixed Match Challenge show to Facebook Watch starting on Tuesday, September 18. That is two weeks away. The show will take place at 10pmET every Tuesday with one match taking place until they finish the tournament.
Here’s more info from WWE.com on the second season:
An exciting new season of WWE Mixed Match Challenge that will stream live in the United States and for the first time in Germany, Mexico, Australia, France, Indonesia, Philippines, Spain, Thailand and Vietnam, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 10 ET/7 PT, with a special WWE MMC Pre-Show starting at 9:50 ET has been announced.
The 14-episode series will air on Facebook Watch and feature WWE Superstars from Raw and SmackDown LIVE competing in a round robin-style Mixed Tag Team Elimination Tournament in which all teams will face each other. Each 30-minute episode will feature two matches.
WWE Mixed Match Challenge is a Raw vs. SmackDown LIVE tournament where male and female Superstars team up to determine which combination of strength, skill, athleticism and experience reigns supreme. Each showdown in the competition will follow traditional Mixed Tag Team Match rules: When tagged, male Superstars face off with the opposing team’s male competitor, and female Superstars battle fellow female competitors.
The brackets have not been revealed yet, but the teams were announced in a video hosted by Cathy Kelly.
Here are the four teams returning from the first season.
The Miz and Asuka – They won the first season.
Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss
Rusev and Lana
Jimmy Uso and Naomi
Here are the six new teams.
Finn Balor and Bayley
Bobby Lashley and Sasha Banks
R-Truth and Carmella
Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox
AJ Styles and Charlotte Flair
Kevin Owens and Natalya
If you’re looking to pick a winner, I think picking AJ Styles and Charlotte Flair or Braun Strowman and Alexa Bliss are a good choice. Miz and Asuka won the first season mainly because Asuka was still undefeated. Since that isn’t a factor anymore, I think AJ and Charlotte are most likely to win.
