World Wrestling Entertainment is making a change to their cruiserweight wrestling show, 205 Live. The show has aired on Tuesday nights after Smackdown on WWE Network as a live show since November 29. 2016. They named it 205 Live because it was a live show just like Raw and Smackdown, but that’s about to change with WWE choosing to move it to Wednesday nights starting next week, September 19. They also announced Cedric Alexander defending the Cruiserweight Title against Drew Gulak next week, so there could be a title change there.
The main reason for the change is due to WWE bringing back Mixed Match Challenge back on Tuesdays after Smackdown as a 30-minute show on Facebook Watch (in the US and some other countries). Perhaps WWE felt like putting 205 Live on right after MMC is too much. While 205 Live will tape right after the Mixed Match Challenge and WWE will want fans to stay in the arena until 11:30pmET for three shows, it will not be live on WWE Network despite being called 205 Live. Following 205 Live, there’s also a dark match featuring top Smackdown stars.
That means the new Wednesday night lineup will be:
7pm ET: 205 Live
8pm ET: NXT
9pmET: Mae Young Classic, which will run through October.
The official announcement was made by 205 Live GM Drake Maverick on Twitter:

TJR Thoughts: I think it’s a good move in the sense that it won’t burn out the WWE audience on Tuesday nights. I assume they will mention it on Raw on Monday and if they don’t, that’s a big mistake. They also need to have Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon, Triple H and other big names to tweet about the change so that it feels like a big deal. Right now, there’s nothing on WWE.com about it. There might be later, but there should have been something on there already.
The division used to be featured on Raw until they made the call to stop doing that earlier this year. There was a cruiserweight match at SummerSlam on the Kickoff Show, but they are not getting a match at Hell in a Cell and they missed several PPVs. It just doesn’t feel like WWE is getting behind this division as much as they could.
