WWE Championship Match Officially Added to WWE Hell in a Cell Lineup for June 20

There are two official matches announced for the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view on Sunday, June 20. Hell in a Cell is the last WWE PPV that will take place in the Thunderdome in Tampa, Florida.

Last night on Raw, Drew McIntyre earned a WWE Championship match by beating Kofi Kingston in a great main event match. That means McIntyre will challenge WWE Champion Bobby Lashley at Hell in a Cell on June 20. It will be McIntyre’s third time challenging Lashley for the WWE Title pay-per-view after Lashley beat McIntyre at WrestleMania to retain the WWE Championship. At WrestleMania Backlash, Lashley pinned Braun Strowman in a triple threat match (also featuring Drew McIntyre) to avoid pinning Drew and now they are going with Lashley vs. McIntyre again.

The other match that was announced last week was Rhea Ripley defending the Raw Women’s Title against Charlotte Flair. That’s the same Charlotte Flair who was part of a triple threat match at WrestleMania Backlash where Ripley beat Asuka in a match with Charlotte Flair. In other words, they did the exact same booking for Charlotte and Drew.

What we don’t know right now is if either announced match will be a Hell in a Cell match. Of the two matches, it makes the most sense to do Lashley vs. McIntyre inside Hell in a Cell to end the feud. WWE still has 19 days until Hell in a Cell takes place, so there is plenty of time. I would assume some Smackdown matches get added this week as well.

Here’s the official lineup so far.

WWE Championship: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre

Raw Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair

You can watch WWE Hell in a Cell on Sunday, June 20 at 8 ET/5 PT on Peacock in the United States and the WWE Network everywhere else.

That also means that WWE is going back to the 8pm PPV start time instead of the 7pm PPV start time that they have been using over the last year or so.
