Updated WWE SummerSlam Lineup – Three Title Matches So Far

The next WWE pay-per-view event is SummerSlam on August 20 in Brooklyn, New York. It’s the 30th edition of the “biggest party of the summer” as WWE likes to call it. The event is arguably the second biggest WWE show of the year after WrestleMania. Some people might rank the Royal Rumble ahead of it, but I think SummerSlam is number two. Anyway, here’s the lineup so far.

WWE Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman vs. Samoa Joe

The match was announced on Raw after Strowman attacked Reigns and Joe last week during what was supposed to be a number one contender’s match. It was typical WWE booking leading to a multi-man match.

I’m not sure who is going to win, but I’m excited about the match. Four guys with a lot of credibility and a lot of power. I prefer singles matches over four ways because they are more pure wrestling matches. I can see why WWE is going this route, though. It would be a way to take the title off the absentee champion Lesnar without pinning him. Right now I’m leaning towards Samoa Joe as the winner.

WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship: Naomi vs. Natalya

Natalya earned the title shot after winning the Fatal 5-Way Elimination Match at Battleground on Sunday. A title change is possible and don’t forget about Money in the Bank holder Carmella as well.

WWE Raw Women’s Championship: Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley

Bayley earned the title match by beating Sasha Banks clean on Raw.

That’s all for now. There’s plenty of time to announce matches for the four hour show, so look for more announcements on Raw and Smackdown over the next month.
