Updated WWE NXT Takeover Chicago Lineup for June 16

Here’s the updated card for WWE NXT Takeover Chicago from the Allstate Arena in Chicago on Saturday, June 16. You can watch NXT Takeover Chicago live on WWE Network with a start time of 8pmET/7pmCT.

Street Fight: Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa

NXT Championship: Aleister Black (c) vs. Lars Sullivan

Velveteen Dream vs. Ricochet

NXT Tag-Team Championship: Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly (c) vs. Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan

NXT Women’s Championship: Shayna Baszler (c) vs. Nikki Cross

A typical NXT Takeover card has five matches running for about 2.5 hours or sometimes close to three hours. They might add UK Champion Pete Dunne vs. North American Champion Adam Cole to the card, which I think they should do because that would be an awesome match.

TJR Thoughts: I think Gargano vs. Ciampa is the main event for the second straight Takeover even though there’s no title on the line. That’s the feud of the year so far and everybody that watches NXT knows that. The last match at NXT Takeover New Orleans was five stars out of five. I think they can do it again too.

I have high expectations for Dream vs. Ricochet as well. The build has been great and they have wrestled a lot at live events, so I expect an awesome match.

The Tag Team Title and Women’s Title matches should both be good.

I’m disappointed that EC3 isn’t in a match on the card considering how good of a talent he is. If he’s not going to be on every Takeover card then put him on the main roster and give him the push he deserves. I would rather see EC3 vs. Black instead of Sullivan vs. Black, but I guess the NXT bookers want to see what they can get out of Sullivan in a big match.

I hope Cole vs. Dunne gets added. I don’t know if that’s the plan. However, they just introduced the North American Title at the last Takeover, so if they leave it off the card at this Takeover that would be disappointing.

It’s an awesome card as usual from the NXT brand. I don’t think NXT Takeover New Orleans will be topped because I gave that show 10 out of 10. This show might be a 8 or 9 out of 10 thanks to Gargano vs. Ciampa and Ricochet vs. Dream.

I’ll be back next week with a preview of the event with our regular NXT reviewer Kurt Zamora, whose weekly NXT review should be up tonight.
