Updated WWE Extreme Rules Lineup for July 14 – Two Tag Team Matches Announced

The next WWE pay-per-view event is Extreme Rules on July 14 in Philadelphia. That means they only have three weeks of Raw and Smackdown between Stomping Grounds and Extreme Rules. Last night on Raw, there were two important segments where they set up tag team matches at Extreme Rules.

Seth Rollins, the Universal Champion, and Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch (they’re a couple as WWE likes to tell us repeatedly) started the show with a promo. Lynch said she helped Rollins at Stomping Grounds because she wasn’t going to let guest referee Lacey Evans cost Seth his title because Lacey couldn’t beat Becky for her title. Baron Corbin’s music played, then Evans attacked Lynch from behind and Corbin went down to the ring to go after Rollins. Lynch and Rollins cleared the ring leading to a promo.

The interaction led to a challenge with Corbin and Evans wanting a mixed tag team match. Lynch said if they do this then this is their last chance against Rollins and Lynch. Cobrin and Evans said fine, but they wanted to add to it and Rollins said that’s fine because they will accept whatever they want. Corbin and Evans told them to put both titles on the line at Extreme Rules, which became official later in the night.

TJR Thoughts: I am not a big fan of singles titles on the line in a tag team match, but it’s not like WWE does it that often. I can remember it a few times in WWE history. The story of the match is that Rollins can lose his title if Lynch loses and vice versa, so the champions are in a tough situation while the challengers have nothing to lose. With that said, I would be shocked if the titles changed hands. I have felt since the beginning of the feud that Rollins and Lynch are going to retain their titles. It’s too early in their title reigns to drop their titles.

The other match that was set up for Extreme Rules happened during the Two on One match with Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre facing Roman Reigns. It lasted for a few minutes with Shane and Drew in full control as they hit Reigns with a Spear and two Claymore Kicks. Shane tried to finish off Reigns with a Coast to Coast dropkick off the top rope, but that’s when The Undertaker showed up and gave Shane a Chokeslam. Undertaker cleared the ring of Shane and Drew while the crowd popped huge at the surprising return of The Undertaker.

Later in the show, it was officially announced that Reigns and Undertaker would team up with Shane and Drew at Extreme Rules.

TJR Thoughts: It was a nice surprise to see The Undertaker, who is still in good shape at 54 years old. I believe that The Undertaker will be motivated to have a good match due to the stinker that he had with Goldberg at Super Showdown earlier this month.

That means the two matches we know so far are:

For the Universal and Raw Women’s Championships: Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch vs. Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans

Roman Reigns and The Undertaker vs. Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon

They will probably add Kofi Kingston vs. Samoa Joe for the WWE Title soon, perhaps as soon as tonight. Another big match will likely be Ricochet defending the US Title against AJ Styles based off Styles beating Ricochet non-title on Raw last night.

More matches will be added soon. I would expect there to be some stipulations on these matches and others that are added to the card because that’s the theme of Extreme Rules, but so far nothing has been announced.
