Stephanie McMahon Says WWE Will “Integrate LGBT Characters Into Programming”

NBC News posted an article late last night regarding WWE’s Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon speaking at a Beyond Sport United event. The event was held on Tuesday, August 9 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Stephanie’s attendance at this event was the reason why she did not appear on Monday’s (August 8) edition of Raw.

During the conference, Stephanie talked about how WWE plans on integrating LGBT characters and storylines into their programming in the near future. The following are some of her comments on the matter.

“Throughout my life I have grown up knowing gay [WWE] superstars and executives. It’s always been accepted, but now it’s about getting that message out there.”

“We will integrate LGBT characters into our programming … and I do think there will be an opportunity to integrate some of those storylines in the near future.”

“We’ve had GLAAD come in and speak to our entire writing team and give a whole tutorial on sensitivities, the right words, the wrong word [and] why those words matters. I think that with their guidance and support, we will be able to portray that [LGBT storyline] appropriately.”
