Seth Rollins Recalls Randy Orton Being Upset At Dean Ambrose After Shield Attack

The Shield were one of the most dominant stables in WWE history that feuded with all of the company’s top guys, including Randy Orton. Seth Rollins has recalled a moment where Orton was so mad after a Shield attack, he wanted to go after Dean Ambrose.

The Shield’s WWE was at Survivor Series 2012 when Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns attacked Ryback in a triple threat match involving WWE Champion CM Punk and John Cena. After The Shield put Ryback through the announce table, Punk covered Cena, who was out from taking Ryback’s finisher. Initially, the group was supposed to help CM Punk only, but then as their momentum grew, The Shield became its own entity. As the months progressed, The Shield found themselves against everybody in WWE.

Seth Rollins was a guest on “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions show on Peacock/WWE Network and Rollins spoke about how Orton was upset after a Shield attack due to Ambrose going after Orton’s knees:

“I jump up on Randy, who’s a big dude. I get on his back and before he has any time to think, Ambrose is there with the chop block. It’s a nice chop block, it’s as safe as they come, but you feel somebody come low when you’ve got somebody on your head and it’s panic time. We come back to Gorilla and Randy’s hot. He’s hot, he’s yelling, he’s basically saying he’s gonna put a hit out on Ambrose. I remember he leaves Gorilla and we’re all just like [laughing]. Hunter [Triple H]’s like, ‘Don’t worry about it.’”

Rollins added that The Shield never planned their attacks. Since they were new in the company, veterans like Orton wasn’t sure what kind of guys he was working with:

“We never plan these things out. There was no rehearsal. It’s like, ‘Okay, here they come.’ So we never knew how we were gonna hit him. Ambrose is one of the safest guys in the world, but Randy don’t know that at the time. I always went high, Ambrose usually went low. I was a little bit faster so I would get there first.”

Rollins is currently wrestling on WWE Smackdown along with Reigns, who is the Universal Champion. Dean Ambrose left WWE as a free agent in 2019 and he’s wrestling as Jon Moxley now. Orton has had a rivalry with all three men and is current a Raw Tag Team Champion with Riddle.
