WWE News: Winner of Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler Will Make Fastlane WWE Title Match a Fatal 4-Way

The main event of WWE Fastlane, a Smackdown PPV on March 11, was set up on this week’s Smackdown when Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn ended in a No Contest due to AJ Styles attacking both men. That led to the predictable situation where Smackdown GM Daniel Bryan set up a triple threat match for the WWE Title at Fastlane: AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn.

There’s going to be a change. Instead of a triple threat, it will be a Fatal 4-Way per an announcement from Shane McMahon on Twitter on Thursday morning.

Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler was announced as a big match for next week on this week’s Smackdown.

Analysis: I guess this means I can cut back on my complaints of WWE doing too many triple threat matches. Of course there’s a Fatal 4-Way on Raw this week and we’ll get another one at Fastlane. Anyway, I don’t think the addition of Ziggler or Corbin is going to change the result at Fastlane because it will still be AJ Styles retaining the WWE Title and facing Shinsuke Nakamura at WrestleMania. I don’t see that changing. I think Corbin or Ziggler is being added so that one of them takes the pin in the match.

What’s weird about this is Ziggler quit nearly two months ago, left the US Title in the ring, came back at the Royal Rumble, had an uneventful showing and hasn’t wrestled or cut a promo in the last two weeks. There’s been no follow up at all. It’s lazy booking.

As for Corbin, he hasn’t done much for a few months, yet here he is one win away from a WWE Title match. I assume Corbin will win because WWE does stop/start pushes with him all the time.

The story will be about WWE Champion Styles having to overcome three heels in Owens, Zayn and Corbin (or Ziggler) to retain his title and Styles will find a way to do it.
